Project Description

A menstrual hygiene awareness and sanitary pad distribution program for adolescent girls was successfully organized by the Rotary Club of Dillibazar at Albert Secondary School in Maitidevi. The program was aimed at increasing awareness about health and hygiene among teenage girls studying at the school.
During the event, participants received detailed information about proper hygiene practices, health precautions, and safe behaviors to follow during menstruation. The session was facilitated by Rotaract members Suraksha GC and Sanjana Lekhak, who delivered informative presentations on menstrual hygiene, the correct use of sanitary pads, and safe disposal methods. The facilitators emphasized that menstruation is a natural biological process and should not be associated with shame or fear. They encouraged students to maintain proper hygiene and pay special attention to their health during their menstrual cycle.
As part of the initiative, sanitary pads were distributed to all participating students by the Rotary Club of Dillibazar to help make menstrual management easier and more accessible for them.
The program was attended by the club’s Past Presidents Leelanath Sharma and Indira Parajuli, Secretary Sandhya Rajbhandari, and School Management Committee Chairperson Shambhu Pokharel, among others.
Speaking at the event, Past President Indira Parajuli noted that March is recognized by Rotary as Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Month. She explained that the program was organized in line with this theme to promote health and hygiene awareness among adolescent girls.
